On vacation with Gutsy

Yesterday upgraded to Gutsy Gibbon and I have to say that… upgrading wasn’t that “clean” as usual (I know it’s a development version) upgraded kernel seems to do “weird” things on the background then returned to older kernel, some “visual changes” include the newest Appearance application,

Appearance GNOME 2.19  Appearance GNOME 2.19

And of course the replacement of gaim with pidgin,

Pidgin

Great software

GNOME 2.19.4

Time goes so fast, on 2004 I was studying and waiting for graduation. I would love to have that free time like those old days. Even three years had passed I still remember those great things that happened.

I can be more happier (sure everyone can). I need to change older things for newer, let’s say my old laptop, maybe leaving my house and starting living on my own, get a car meet some girls, learn something new, I don’t know, but am sure that next weekend will spend thinking about it (will be on vacation). I’m so tired mentally and resting will help me. I don’t plan traveling or doing any spectacular things, just spend time with my family and going out on the morning, maybe to the beach, going to the movies, having great time. Breathing fresh air.

Excellence

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. Aristotle

I decided, since the beginning of current year, to read at least one book per month, haven’t done so due to I used to had a lot of work, isn’t a excuse because I’ve finished reading four, so am on my way. I have to say really like the Pragmatic Bookshelf Series, those books are very well written are so easy to read, they really rule, and of course you learn from them.

I love reading (and sleeping, eating and developing), you always have something to learn from books. I’m not in a race to read twelve books this year on the contrary am on a race to improve my software engineering skills, including of course management and development, learning “new tricks” will always save you time.

I still don’t know neither where to go and what to do in the near future, but am sure that knowledge will help me.

TV Card and FM

The card also supports FM Radio, so plug the included cable in and install gnomeradio:

TV Card

I’ve bought a Lifeview FlyVideo 3000 FM TV Card. Setting up was not difficult at all, you will only need to follow this webpage and this webpage, basically

I added:

options saa7134 card=2 tuner=43

to /etc/modprobe.d/saa7134

Using saa7134 kernel module and installing tvtime did the trick.

And yes the Remote Control works.

By the way, yesterday while playing soccer I hurt two of my hand fingers and today both are hurting like hell, I can’t close fist. It hurts so bad. Saddest thing is I can’t type at all :(
