Este fin de año que esta próximo a llegar haré algo diferente al anterior, esta vez si pienso salir por la madrugada, lucharé contra la flojera propia de la temporada y la apatía que me atrapa cada temporada de año nuevo, a pesar de que estas fechas no han sido emocionantes para mi, pues ni siquiera en casa he estado, hay que activarse para sacarle el mejor provecho a todo esto.

Hay que sonreir, pues inicia una nueva temporada además nada cuesta… al menos hasta el día de hoy.

Además tengo ganas de fiesta.

Noboby imagines the things I’ve done… I really enjoy those moments. BTW. It looks like a need to pay some bills.

After reading the announcement I decided to upgrade to WP 2.0, works better, nicer ‘write post’ UI, upgrading is quite easy. I also need to upgrade my older monkey-based skin but at least I like current red-based one.

Nothing have happend recently, working takes me all the day. Sometimes at work I spend time alone, I use that time for thinking, thinking in solutions for my current projects, thinking in people, thinking in myself, remembering things that I’ve done and long time ago I said won’t do it… time changes everything.
However my labor future looks nice, I’ll start to use my favorite OS, migrating a QNX-based app to Linux, and using one of my favorite programming languages: C. Older but still usefull.

I’m planning a MonoCanvas release on Febraury I hope we can do it.

I use MS Windows at work (not proud of it), and I use Winzip for compressing my files, most recent version includes a newest compression level… I read bzip2 and I though I will be able to uncompress it from my Linux box…WRONG! They use a another algorithm based on the LZMA compression, however, I figure it out after trying the first time:

$ unzip filename.zip

skipping need PK compat. v4.6 (can do v2.1)

Then:

$ sudo apt-get install p7zip

Do the trick

7z e -y filename.zip

And done

After thinking for a while I decided to upgrade to Dapper, after downloading the packages and logging in for testing the newest changes in GNOME, the first thing I noticed is the faster loading and lowing memory usage, only 88-90MB for the GNOME Desktop! Awesome!

I’m also testing Gaim 2, looks very nice…

This recent upgrade, upgraded Xorg… now when typing the entire session flashes… looks like a broken TV… but only when typing… really weird…

UPDATED. Horizontal/vertical sync related problem… don’t know.. but with 1280×1024 resolution.. doesn’t seems to work… 1024*768 does the trick, must wait for updates.

Since I wake up until now I’ve been fixing my laptop. Why? Because of MS Windows, I used to have all the hard drive set for using Linux only, but now due to I may need to do something for work I will need dual booting, after resizing the disk with parted with a Knoppix CD I restart the computer and begin usual MS Windows installing, I left the computer for eating when I returned I read something like

Can’t boot, hal.dll file missing, try reinstalling the file.

I didn’t know what happend because I leave…. however I didn’t care about the message, It is a Microsoft-based product so reinstall should do the trick.

Whatever, then something else: my current linux partitions: two ext3 (home and root), and swap, and the fourth ntfs for MS Windows. When I reach the “Selection partition for installing” screen in the WinXP CD, something caught my attention, an error message telling

Can’t delete partition nor format

What the hell!… I restart again… for normal booting… but something else happend

Couldn’t find any bootable device press F2 or F12 for set up

What the hell!! The first thing that came to my mind: My HD is fucked up..

I googled for a while for the solution, and.. it worked, at least the installing is still in process… Some pain still in the way.

BTW. Dell has nice Service Manuals with images and everything.

We may release soon our first MonoCanvas version, we are missing Lines (Edges) and debugging some performance, we don’t want memory leaks… and then to begin writing UmlCanvas.

Still don’t know why the Cairo rendering sucks in my Desktop PC… I must dig into config files.

I’m kind of happy with my recent project, I haven’t yet finished the older one but I need to keep going, I’m wrapping a Natural-written library using C++ for using it within an Oracle‘s trigger. With this newest development I’ve faced some issues, many related to the full platform dependency.

When I begin working… well you know, I’m still rookie (in that job), and some of my partners were talking about the Broker and the PIP (still don’t know why they call PIP and Broker… to the library), first when I hear Broker I thought about the pattern… and is something like that, however when you hear library you imagine some well-constructed component for code reusing… and.. the most important thing standard-based, I was deluded (again) by thinking that there they care about exporting the functions in an ANSI-way, using Microsoft-based products brings you to use propietary technology (such as COM, DCOM, etc), they expose the libraries’ methods like an Ole object, I’m not at good at MS tecnologies, but I like to learn and they have a lot of documentation and I have to do it anyway, I had two scenarios: modifying a Delphi-based application or writing this new project for running it all within the Database’s process, of course I choosed second choice and due to we are using Oracle Database and Oracle support calling standard libraries for remote procedures and decided to wrap it for using.

C++ has been one of my favorites programming languages since I learnt programming, I really enjoy programming with C++, I’m happy with this new project, some challenges to defeat.

Pure distributed queries and database-based solution. Pure love.

This beginning of month I’ve learn (or is it understood?) many things, most important are related to the fact that I ussually get trust myself and plan things that almost all the time doesn’t happend, and this occurs because I plan too much and I wait for the right time, I think is correct… (this has been happend since … four years ago… I need to switch strategy)

Besides I’ve notice that these days I’ve converted in a deluded person, lets get the facts

• Asking for talking for maybe solving our issues… Oh man! What the fuck was I thinking? Was fake… really fake.. Some time ago I said… no more wasting time, now I’m cleaning out.
• Thinking that two days will suffice for solving some university-related papers… two days were few days… I spent all the week there… What does that mean? I need to go the work for weekends at least two.
• Imaging the money will last this month, I didn’t asked too much.. only a month!! However I paid some things I owed, I’m better now.

I need to develop with real programming languages… Using Delphi and VB.NET is a pain in the ass.

While going to home in the company’s bus… I see the places that we leave behind… the cold air hits my face and I notice that I’m too tired… I begin to remember my weird dreams… many of them are really weird… there are like hollywood horror movies.

I bring my PDA for listening daft punk music… I almost fall sleep while traveling… at least a few time for resting and being nice…

I want to go to the movies… maybe this weekend.
